Description

Seelachs überbacken auf Senfmöhren is a flavorful and easy-to-make dish where tender Seelachs fillets are baked over a bed of spicy mustard carrots. The mild fish pairs perfectly with the tangy mustard sauce, creating a delicious balance of flavors. This dish is ideal for a quick dinner or a special Sunday meal. Enjoy a healthy and savory meal that integrates fish with vibrant, tasty vegetables!

Ingredients

4 Seelachs fillets

500 g carrots

2 tbsp mustard

2 tbsp honey

1 tbsp butter

1 tsp thyme

Salt and pepper to taste

150 g grated cheese (e.g., Emmental)

Instructions

  • Peel and slice the carrots into thin rounds. Cook them in a pot with a bit of water for about 5 minutes until slightly soft but still firm.

  • In a small bowl, mix mustard, honey, butter, thyme, salt, and pepper until you have a smooth sauce.

  • Place the pre-cooked carrots in a baking dish and evenly pour the mustard-honey sauce over them.

  • Lay the Seelachs fillets on top of the carrots and season with salt and pepper. Sprinkle the grated cheese over the fish and carrots.

  • Bake at 180°C for about 20 minutes, until the fish is cooked through and the cheese is golden brown and crispy.

Notes

  • Senf (mustard): Feel free to adjust the type of mustard used based on your taste. A mild Dijon mustard or a spicier variety can be selected.

  • Vegetable variations: You can swap the carrots for zucchini or bell peppers for a different twist.

  • Cheese alternatives: If you don’t like Emmental, you can use Gouda or Parmesan.
