Description

Flammkuchen mit Ziegenkäse is a savory twist on the classic Alsatian recipe, featuring a crispy base topped with creamy goat cheese, fresh herbs, and a variety of delightful ingredients. Perfect for cheese lovers, this easy-to-make dish offers a harmonious blend of flavors and is ideal for quick dinners or as an appetizer for guests.

Ingredients

Flammkuchenteig (ready-made or homemade)

150g goat cheese

1 small onion

100g crème fraîche

1 tbsp olive oil

1 tsp fresh thyme

Salt and pepper to taste

1 tsp honey (optional)

Fresh arugula for garnish

Instructions

  • Roll out the Flammkuchen dough on a baking sheet.

  • Peel the onion and slice it into thin rings.

  • Mix crème fraîche with olive oil, salt, and pepper, then spread it evenly over the dough.

  • Crumble goat cheese and distribute it along with the onion rings over the dough.

  • Bake in a preheated oven at 220°C (top/bottom heat) for 10-15 minutes, until the dough is golden and crispy.

  • After baking, garnish with fresh thyme and a drizzle of honey if desired.

  • Serve with fresh arugula and enjoy!

Notes

  • Tip: Double the ingredients for a larger batch, and bake multiple Flammkuchen if cooking for a group.

  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in the oven to retain crispness.

  • Variations: Add crispy bacon for a heartier option, use figs for a sweet twist, or create a vegetarian version by omitting bacon.
